Week 32

So this past Monday I hit 7 months, and wow it really does not feel like it! So far I have had the best time of my life, but also some of the worst times as well! But I know that this church is true! I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for each and everyone of us even if you don't like it or believe it! I know that life may be hard but if we look to our leaders and to our savior Jesus Christ we will find help, because there is no one else that will help you the way He can! Anyway love you all hope for the best! Always know that your never in too deep to be saved!

PS I got this picture of Ryan sent to me from a missionary that went home around Christmas time and was back visiting the mission. He also sent me this message.

"I never served around Elder Gordon but I always hear great things about him. I don't know anybody who has ever said anything bad about him. You know he is well loved down here."
That made my day!

Week 31

Ryan did not send a letter for week 30!

ok sorry about last week! But this week was crazy-ish

Monday was a boring day once we were done emailing, we walked back to the apt to take a nap and then next thing we knew it it was dark out and we were done for the day. Neither one of us were feeling good so I guess that was ok.  On Tuesday we went with some Spanish missionaries to their district meeting, and that was interesting I did not understand much but the spirit was felt and is that counts, right?  Then we went back to the apt and sat around because elder Floyd had an ear infection, so there went our night. Wednesday we went to the Dr. after out district meeting, to fix said ear infection, then we sat around waiting for out dinner appointment, that never came through :( but its Ok because the people that signed up were old and had probably forgotten, (and yes we did call to conform and they did not answer) so we got a pizza and called it a night because Floyd still felt like crap. I am not blaming anything on my comp, I too had this ongoing headache, so it was nice to just sit and sleep!
Then Thursday came and we helped the office missionaries, move some apartments around and that took like all day, but it was way fun, and then we went to this one family's house to teach therm and for them to feed us, and wow that was great I got to play baseball, with this boy, because he good and he's my favorite cause he a lot like me! Then finally, the weekend came and it was good, we had lunch with this couple at this real good burger place, and then we helped the office couple again, still moving apartments around. On Saturday, we had our regular interviews with the president which was fun and then our bishop, picked us up from there for our dinner appointment with his family and wow that was awesome, we taught them a good lesson about why the fall of Adam had to happen, and why it was so important. Then we went to the church to play volleyball with them and that was a blast. Then Sunday, we went to church, it was a really good Sunday.  First hour was good they talked about fasting and the plan of salvation, and then we went with the youth to their class and we taught the plan of salvation to them, and then we went with the priests to their class and they talked about the plan of salvation, so that was way cool.  I was glad to go to all of the young people classes because they are more fun! After church we went to dinner with this part member family and we taught them about the priesthood, and it was a really good day, and that was my week.  Love you all have a good week!

Week 29

OK like I said last week, we had a big conference this past week and wow that was so cool we had Elder Golden of the seventy, come down to tell us about all the new world wide changes for missionaries! The real big change was the key indicators, we use to have  Investigators baptized and confirmed, Investigators with a baptismal date, Investigators who attend sacrament meeting, Lessons taught to investigators with a member present, Other lessons taught, Progressing investigators, Referrals received and contacted, New investigators, Lessons taught to recent converts and less-active members, and Service. Which I always thought was a lot, and now there are only, Investigators baptized and confirmed, Investigators with a baptismal date, Investigators who attend sacrament meeting, and New investigators, so first off that is a big change! And then they changed our daily schedule, made it more open, for the Holy Ghost to lead us and to Guide us, to where we really need to be! I lover the fact the they changed the it all up, because it makes it more on us to change the lives of others, and not so much on a fixed schedule, it gives us more responsibility to do our job! Other then that he goes on to tell us about the way of life and who we are, and how cool we are to be missionaries. It was a really long meeting but I enjoyed every moment of it!

Then we went on exchanges, Elder Floyd to LSU and I got Elder Wilson here in Tiger Bend, it's always fun and I love to see how other missionaries work because you get to see other ways to talk to people and to teach the people here in BR! So Wilson came out with me and he has been in New Orleans, the whole time he's been out,(on him mission) until he moved up here to LSU, and it was funny to see him in Baton Rouge. We went tracking and he was expecting people to be out and about walking around and siting on the porch just hanging out, but the difference between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, is people here have jobs, and so no one is ever home, so I just thought it was funny, to see the difference!

So there is this family we are working with, and we were over there the other day for dinner/lesson, and we were trying to help one of the kids with his homework, and he is like 10 years old, and wow, he reminds me... well, of ME! It's funny because he had a long day at school and then he went right to baseball practice, then home for dinner and now it's like 8-ish and he's asked to do his homework. HE does not have much left in him to do his homework, just like I would be! But Elder Floyd sits down with him to start his homework, and it only like 20 math problems, not that a big of deal because this kid is smart and I know he can do them all real fast. So he gets started and he is working well and getting them done, he gets distracted here and there but he doing really well, and then he comes to the last problem, and this problem is a little bigger then the last 19 and he has a little beak down, he said that we were doing this one wrong, and that we don't understand, and that we don't know, (we knew the answer) but he did not want to put in the little extra effort into finish this last problem because all he sees is the wrong way, and he does not want to listen to our way. And wow this hit me the other night, we as people do this all the time we get worn out and we get fed up with life, and we don't see any way to get thru it all, but it's funny because there is someone that has all the answers! And He's is waiting to help us if we are willing to listen to his Answer!

So the start of this week was kinda crazy yesterday we were on tornado watch all morning, it was raining harder then I have ever seen it, and once we stepped outside it was like 85 and blue sky's, it kinda makes me mad how fast the weather can change down here, but it's ok I guess!

Anyway love you all hope you have a good week.
