Having Fun

So since I talked to you guys Wednesday not much has changed. After we left the library Wednesday we went to play a little bit of ping pong it was a blast for sure! After that member in our ward named brother Vercher took us go play golf, brave men!! And wow that was a blast I can understand why so many people pour so much money and time into the sport! The funniest part about the whole thing was my first swing of the day, we're sitting in the first box and I go to swing and I smash that golf ball so hard it just curved right like nobody's business it hit a tree then hit the ground and rolled all the way to hit brother Verchers, Corvette it was for sure funny! I know it was because he was cracking up about it! We played 9 holes and it took like two hours and I only lost 3 balls but I found to other balls so ya! Then we had about as normal a week that anyone could expect! We went to a baseball game for a member in our ward, and that was fun we were only able to see the last 20 mins of it! We had church Sunday and it started at 9 and we were able to go home around 2:30 it was for sure long day at church, but it was way fun we had a good speaker in Alexandria ward, but we had dinner at the Colmons that night and that was a blast we played some pool and had good fun and, then we came home and made calls! This morning I got up and worked out and then  brother Vercher came and picked us up and we went to go play 18 holes of golf, it was the best for sure!

Sorry my email is only about p day, I had a short week! but I do indeed work hard I just really don't like typing, but I will try to do better! Love you all so much have a good week and do some good in the world!

Birthday Week, and Hitting the 18 month Mark!

Alright so I am sorry for not writing a letter last week, and I don't really want to tell you about every day, because you probably don't want to hear how every day went, anyway I will tell you the best parts, and may be some of the bad!

OK so the fun thing that had happened last  week was we had MLC (missionary leadership counsel), and that was fun for the most part we got to talk about things that are going on in the mission right now and how to be better and how to help the mission climb to the higher plane! After that we went on Ex's with the AP's and wow that was  a blast, we went out and saw a ton of people and taught a ton of lessons, got home later and crashed. The next morning we went out and worked again even harder, once 6 came around we (me and my comp elder Winn) went to the the temple for with a gal, that Elder Winn help reactivate and she was going thru, it was way cool for me just to tag a long! In the morning we drove down to  New Orleans for a Baptism for one of  Elder Winn's Investigators, and that was way cool to see that!

Last week was fun but mostly a normal week, I had my birthday Sunday with some members, and they taught me how to Cook gumbo and it was the best then she baked me my favorite dessert!  but on my birthday Elder Winn was sick so we did nothing and went no where... but it was ok there will be better ones in the future!

This week we had the awesome opportunity to hear from Elder Costa of the Seventy. He came to our mission and held a few zone conferences. It was such an amazing experience hearing from a General Authority. This is the 4th General Authority I have had the opportunity of hearing from on my mission, and every single time a special feeling has been brought in. One of the main things he shared with us was he talked about how whatever you focus on, that is what you are going to have success in. As I have pondered this, I have found how it is so true. If we focus on the gospel, you become successful in living the gospel. I believe that being successful in living the gospel is becoming more like the Savior, which should be our goal. Elder Costa shared many other wonderful things with us, it was a great conference!

Elder Winn and I had 4 investigators at church this week!  It was awesome and I really think it shocked the Ward because we have struggled getting people to church the whole time I have been here. Our investigator, Devon, came and he brought his friend James with him. James also said he would be interested in learning more. We also had a Part-member family that we are starting to work with come. Then the most exciting one was Steven! So on Saturday afternoon, Elder Winn and I were out tracting. We had set a goal to find 4 new people to teach and this was a lofty goal because we hadn't been able to find anyone all week. Well it seemed like everyone that opened up was interested! All of them became new investigators and we found a few potential investigators too. One of these new investigators we found was Steven. Steven opened up and we talked to him for about 10 minutes and he had plenty of questions for us. He then asked where the church was at and told us he was going to come. I have had many people tell me this, but for some reason I could tell that Steven was serious. Well the next morning in walked Steven to church and he loved it. Steven is from Nigeria, and is so prepared for the gospel!

Anyway love you y'all so much have a good week!

Jaunary 8-14

It is Elder Gordon's birthday on January 17th, I am sure he would love a card, an email, or anything you would like to send him. His address is listed on the side of the blog.

ok so the week went by quit quick, once we left the library, we went and worked out and then had lunch at the apt, it was a real good morning, and a good way to start off the day! We then went to the church to hang out with the other missionaries, we played B-ball, it was fun, me and this other missionary were wrestling until I got hit in the head really hard by his knee, and that ended p-day for me! Wednesday.. we had Ex's with New Iberia elders so they came up we went to diner then went out to work, and that was a fun night, went to go see one of out investigators and she was having a hard time, I could tell because she had just got done crying right when we knocked on her door!  We had a way good talk with her, gave her a scripture (2 Nephi 4:20) and then a Spiritual thought along with it. We then went tracting and found quit a few people willing to talk to us which was a blast, we met a guy named Abraham and he's from Israel, and it was way cool to talk to him! Tuesday we got up and  worked out , studied, then we went the elder's home, I the crashed and took a way long nap, Once I got up we biked into the area to go see the people we met the day before, then biked home, but holy cow it was cold out that night for sure, we got home and there was a bomb member that ordered us pizza, it was fun.
Friday we had District meeting, then we had interviews with President Varner, and I think the whole interview was about how I should not grow facial hair once I come home, it was funny, but I had a really good interview with him, he's such a good guy! We then went to go see this member that is working on coming back to church and it was good to see her and help her and see how she was doing! Saturday, was like normal we went to lunch at the Fernandez's and we had fun playing ping pong and cards, then we went to go try to see people and then ended the day by tracting a complex here in Alexandria.  Sunday we went to church at 8 and we left at 3:30 ish it was a long time at church but it was for sure fun we went to 2 sacrament meetings 1 baptism and 1 choir practice!!! we came home to study then we had dinner with the Boswells then bed!!! but overall the week was killer,
Ok so in our mission we had started to read the Book or Mormon on the first of January and we are going to read it in 90 day so ya, it going to be fun,  a little hard for me I am going to do it twice before I go home, I am exited for sure! But while we read it we are highlighting the Gospel of Jesus Christ lesson which is Jesus Christ, Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the end and it has been real fun seeing how many times Jesus is in the Book of Mormon, anyway I would encourage all to read it!! love you a'll so much have a good week!

Love,
Elder Gordon

Christmas Week

Ok sorry for not writing a letter last week, I did not really feel a need to because I had just talked to my family the day before. But anyway I am here today!

Ok so last week was crazy for sure. SO Monday was Christmas, and we went singing at the Manna House, (where the homeless come to eat), that was fun for sure!  Then we went to the Burch's for lunch and calling home! They are a way cool family, in the Pineville ward and we just kinda stayed there the rest of the day we played games and just hung out! Tuesday was a slower day we had dinner at the Williams and that was little crazy! We then gave a blessing to a girl that is on  her death bed... Wednesday was our P-day and we just ended up shooting each other with Nerf guns, we went out and warded for a little bit then we went to go play B-ball with a bunch of hood cats at the church! It was fun for sure!!! Thursday we had a slow day, it was cold, we went to plan out the miles and the rest of the month of January at the library and we were about to get done at the library and the power went out and we lost all of our work and had to start over! On the way back I got a flat tier on my bike so we had to walk, which took forever and once we were home we had to go right to our dinner app at the Smiths and when we got there we helped brother Smith move Christmas trees all over the place, but it was a good dinner! Friday we had district meeting in the morning then we went to our bishops house for fried Duck ... and to help him work on his house! It was fun for sure! Saturday was a bomb day we got up in the morning and drove to the temple! Elder Winn taught a gal in his first area  and she was going through the temple and getting sealed so we were able to go and that was the best, we went to my favorite store, then to my most favorite member's in the south and she fed us and we got to visit a bit then we drove home!!! Sunday, we went to Pineville ward and it was fun, then we went to the Alexandria ward (because we cover both) but we also had to speak... so ya I gave yet another talk, it was good I talked about what we as members need to do! And it was good!! that night we hung out at the Burchs!! Monday we got up and went to play football in the 25 degree weather and that was a blast, we then went to the Burchs for lunch, and we helped them clean up their house, then we went to bishops house for more food and bon fire we went and got to see some real cool people that night!! Anyway that was my week in a nutshell! Hope every one had  a good Christmas and a New Year, love you all so much!

Love,
